Llegamos al segundo miércoles del mes de Febrero, y hoy toca
presentarte el segmento musical de 1981, hace 35 años, cuando el que escribe contaba
con 18 años. Estamos en el mes de San Valentín, mes de amor y la amistad, y
pensando en ello, he querido compartir contigo dos bellas canciones del
recordado dúo anglo-australiano Air Supply, que caen precisas en este mes.
1.- HERE I AM (Air
Supply).- En 1980, Air Supply tuvo bastante popularidad con sus hits “Lost In Love”, “All Out Of Love”
y “Every Woman In The World” y su música romantica caló hondo en muchos
corazones. Y al año siguiente, en 1981, siguió
por la misma ruta exitosa con el gran hit “The One That You Love” –el cual fue incluido hace cinco años en el segmento
de 1981. Y el siguiente tema en ser difundido aquí en las radios locales
fue “Here I Am”, una balada cargada de
bastante feeling y una melodía muy hermosa, e interpretada maravillosamente por
Russell Hitchcock en la voz principal y Graham Russell en los coros. El tema
fue escrito por Norman Sallitt y producido por Harry Maslin. Fue incluido en el
álbum “THE ONE THAT YOU LOVE” y lanzada como segundo single, llegando al N° 5
en USA, según Billboard, y al N° 1 en el USA Adult Contemporary Charts por 3
semanas. Han transcurrido 35 años de
este buen tema y vale la pena recordarlo contigo. Disfrútalo.

2.- KEEPING THE
LOVE ALIVE (Air Supply).- Definitivamente, 1981 fue el año de la consagración de Air
Supply con el buen álbum “THE ONE THAT YOU LOVE”, que fue el más exitoso de su
carrera. Pero en lo personal, en ese año 81, si hubo una canción que me flechó
desde el primer instante que la escuché, fue la bella balada “Keeping The Love Alive”, siendo mi
canción favorita de dicho álbum. Me encantó por su hermosa melodía y sobre
todo, por la interpretación conjunta de Graham Russell y Russell Hichcock,
complementando sus voces a la perfección. La canción fue escrita por Graham
Russell y Richard Supam y producida por Graham Russell, David Foster y Harry Maslin.
Y no fue lanzada como single, siendo
solamente un álbum track. 35 años después, es momento de escuchar ésta muy
bella canción. Disfrútalo.

Este ha sido el segundo segmento musical de 1981. Espero que este
par de hermosos temas hayan sido de tu agrado y como siempre, te espero con tu

canciones más de este muy buen álbum de Air Supply: “Sweet Dreams”, “I’ll Never
